This page will document the process I used in making Shaker boxes for our daughters wedding. As the date of Erica's wedding approached, we decided that she should have something with a little extra meaning attached for her bridesmaids, and other family members.
No.4 Shaker Boxes The sides are made utilizing a cherry tree that I cut on our Walker Township property earlier in 2014. It has the nicest color and grain of any cherry wood that I have ever worked with. The tops are made from birdseye maple with some spectacular figure. I had been saving the maple for a good number of years, just waiting for a special project that it could be used on.
No.7 Shaker Box The larger brides box is made from the same cherry tree, with a quilted maple top.
The text is laser engraved on the inside of the lid.
